DISTILLERIE DE L’ORT

The Òrt distillery, which means "garden" in  Occitan, is based in Montignac-Lascaux in the Périgord. Brother and sister, we created our distillery on our grandparents' old farm. In the centre of the farm, the barn houses the distillation cellar. We converted this former stable to house our still.

Our spirits are distilled in a bespoke still designed by a craftsman from the Périgord region. A unique feature in France: it is heated by solar energy!

To obtain a subtle gin and pastis, we pick the aromatic plants in the morning, when they are most concentrated in essence, and the citrus fruits are peeled just before distillation. Another special feature is that we distil using water from the springs on the farm.

Around the distillery, several hectares are our playground for choosing the essences for our spirits. The plants that grow naturally on the Périgord limestone plateaux inspire the recipes for our spirits. We grow some of them: rosemary, verbena, hyssop, marjoram, thyme, lavender, chamomile.
