About

Max de Pourtalès returned to his Bordeaux roots with the acquisition of Château Doyac in 1998, located in the Haut-Médoc appellation. His wife, Astrid, left the New York theater scene to accompany him on this new adventure. 'My philosophy,' explains Max de Pourtalès, 'is not to produce overly extracted wines like many do worldwide, but rather to craft fine and elegant wines. That doesn’t mean lacking substance, but it is essential to maintain balance and freshness—everything that defines the great wines of Bordeaux.
