de Sadillac - MalbeK

Jean-Baptiste Traversac

Director at Traversac

Monbazillac, France

About

The Malbek of Sadillac is the product of two plots, with a total surface area of 1.10 hectares, located on the limestone and sandy-siliceous soils in the southern part of the Monbazillac hillside. Wine blend of 85% Malbec (Côt) and 15% Merlot. The vines benefit from an ideal south-facing exposure with a gentle slope. The aridity of these plots naturally limits the exuberance of the Malbec, which requires it (yields of 25 hl/ha). The vines are cultivated using sustainable practices aimed at minimizing inputs, particularly phytosanitary treatments and fertilization. The wine is aged in oak barrels for 18 months and in bottle for a minimum of 5 years.
